5. MEASUREMENT AND IMPACT

GoI has developed a monitoring and evaluation framework documented in the guidelines on how to measure the impact of the NPM programme. It is given below:

In Karnataka, when the NPM programme began, Aastrika Foundation had to develop a framework for monitoring and evaluation, as standardised formats were unavailable at that point in time. We focused on two major aspects: 1) clinical outcomes and 2) training efficacy and used both quantitative and qualitative tools. As a part of our clinical outcome framework, we developed forms for ANC, Intrapartum and PNC, while for training efficacy, we introduced tools such as: Pre and Post tests; Feedback for every theory session conducted; OSCEs; Audits and debriefs of every birth; Logbook; and Examinations conducted @ 6 and 18 months.
